Columbine Peak
Nature
Columbine Peak is a 12,662-foot mountain in the Palisades area of northern Kings Canyon National Park in California, just west of the Sierra Nevada crest between Palisade Basin and Dusy Basin. Its summit stands in an alpine climate zone shaped by Pacific weather systems that rise over the range and drop rain or snow. Water from the mountain flows into tributaries of the Middle Fork Kings River. The peak’s name has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names, and its first recorded ascent was completed sometime before 1925 by unknown climbers.
