A 10-pound Parrott cannon replica represents the cannons used by Battery M of the 1st Michigan Artillery, which was assigned to the Eighth Michigan Cavalry Regiment. Under the command of Colonel John Stockton, the regiment trained in 1862-63 at Camp Stockton in Mount Clemens. Colonel Stockton was the son-in-law of Christian Clemens, the namesake of the city.
