On 11-2-1829, 76.31 acres were deeded to William Prilliman from the United States of America. On 12-29-1837 the village of Berlin was laid out, partially on this above mentioned tract of land, and lot 15 began. The Bernard Mayer Building was built in 1853-1854 by Bernard Mayer.
