Thomas Horan enlisted at Dunkirk, N.Y. on May 28, 1861 and served with Company E, 72nd Regiment New York Infantry. He won the Congressional Medal of Honor for distinguished gallantry in action at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863, was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 7, 1864, and died on January 4, 1902.
