Beaver Mountain, in western Wyoming’s Wyoming Range, rises sharply above the Hoback River on Bridger–Teton National Forest land west of the Continental Divide. Visible from U.S. Highway 189/191 and located northwest of Jackson, it gains about 3,650 feet in two miles, giving it striking local relief. Water from its slopes flows into tributaries of the Hoback and then the Snake River. Its alpine subarctic climate brings cold, snowy winters, cool to warm summers, and precipitation throughout the year. Those conditions have made it a local destination for expert downhill skiing in winter and for paragliding and hang gliding in summer.
