Granite Hot Springs in western Wyoming, about 30 miles southeast of Jackson, developed from a natural spring into a managed mountain recreation site. Early settlers first adapted it for bathing by digging a pool, and in 1933 the Civilian Conservation Corps expanded the area with a campground, changing room, and deck. Maintained by the United States Forest Service, it includes a main soaking pool and a more primitive pool at Granite Falls downstream. Access and water temperature vary strongly by season, and the area also figured in the 1992 film A River Runs Through It and endured the nearby Granite Creek Fire in July 2007.
