On the tenth anniversary of man’s first lunar landing, July 20, 1979, this was dedicated to the employees of Rocketdyne. A cluster of five Rocketdyne-built F-1 engines lifted the 365-foot-tall Apollo vehicle from Earth, beginning man’s journey to the Moon. The engine measured 19 feet in length and 12 feet 4 inches in width, produced 1,522,000 pounds of thrust, had a rated run duration of 150 seconds, a flight weight of 18,500 pounds, and used liquid oxygen and kerosene RP1 as propellants.
