The Reverend J.D. Hall guided the sixteen original members of Aransas Pass Missionary Baptist Church in organizing the congregation on October 17, 1909, nearly six months before the city's founding. Its earliest meetings were held in a house at the corner of McCampbell and Yoakum streets. By early 1910, the congregation had grown to 84 members, and a permanent church structure was built at the corner of Houston Street and Greenwood Avenue. Although a 1916 hurricane severely damaged the building, members repaired it and continued using it until the late 1930s. As the congregation grew, plans were made for an education building at the church site, but with the arrival of World War II, the congregation converted those building funds into war bonds, and fifty-eight members served in the armed forces during the war. The education building was finally constructed in 1948. Outreach remained important through the years, including sponsorship of the Mexican Baptist Church of Aransas Pass as a mission in 1954, later sponsorships of Port Aransas Baptist Church and Salt Lake Baptist Mission, a vacation bible school, a food pantry, mission work in Tanque Nuevo, Mexico, and hurricane disaster work in Mississippi and Texas, and the church continues as a spiritual leader in the Aransas Pass community.
