Aransas Pass Light Station, also called the Lydia Ann Lighthouse, stands on Harbor Island near Port Aransas, marking the natural gulf pass into Aransas and Corpus Christi bays. Planned among the original Texas lights after the federal Lighthouse Service was formed in 1851, it is one of the earliest surviving coastal lights in Texas, described as the second-oldest lighthouse on the Texas coast and the oldest surviving structure in the Aransas Pass–Corpus Christi area. After the pass shifted, its original role ended and the light was extinguished in 1952. Private restoration later returned it to service in 1988, and it remains a rare Texas light station with an on-site caretaker.
