Quail rock art panel is a Native American rock art site where Grand Gulch and Step Canyon meet on Cedar Mesa in southeastern Utah, within one of the region’s richest archaeological landscapes of preserved rock art and ledge dwellings. The pictographs were probably created by Basketmaker II or Fremont people, whose ranges overlapped here. A likely quail-like bird gave the panel its name, and its imagery includes a row of humanlike figures with shields and distinctive headwear, two rare green-painted figures, and a red scowling face that may represent a mountain lion. The site is also significant for what it suggests about cultural overlap on Cedar Mesa.
