William G. Bray was born in Mooresville and earned an LLB from the IU Law School. He served as Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney and as a lawyer, and resided in Martinsville. During World War II he was a colonel with an Armoured Group in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded the Silver Star. He served in the Military Government in Korea from 1945 to 1946 and organized a tank battalion in the Indiana National Guard. He served in the U.S. Congress from 1951 to 1975, became Ranking Minority Member of the House Armed Services Committee, authored “Russian Frontiers,” and was a 33 degree Mason.
