A Sunday School began in 1907 in a school house in "Old Hayes," and the church was organized in 1909. In 1912, a small building was purchased and moved to Hayes, where it was used until 1922. Ed and Edna Neil donated land west of Hayes for a new building site, and the church was moved there and enlarged. The new church was dedicated in 1923. In 1962, a basement was made, the church was moved onto it, and the building was remodeled. In 2013, the bell tower was leaking, so the bell was removed and the tower was sealed, and a lighted cross was added to the south side of the tower. In 2015, David "Fuddy" Hansen built the bell structure. Little Brown Church On The Prairie continues to serve the Hayes community, and everyone is welcome.
