On June 17, 1948, at Bedford, Indiana, known as the Stone City of the World, Indiana Limestone Centennial events included the presentation of Cornerstones of Freedom to representatives of 17 friendly nations in what was called one of the most impressive displays of international goodwill ever manifested anywhere in the world. The countries represented were Austria, Belgium, Burma, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Greece, Honduras, Iran, Italy, Liberia, Lithuania, Norway, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia, and the presentation was made by Indiana Limestone Company Inc.
