St. Louis, Missouri · ca. 1815 - 1860s
History
Harriet Scott was the American patriot wife of Dred Scott, the mother of Eliza and Lizzy, and a co-plaintiff in the historic Dred Scott case. Her plea for equality was raised in obscurity, but in time it became the rallying cry of a people determined to abolish slavery. Her life and work stood as a strong seed planted in the pursuit of rising freedom, and her place in history belongs to the ages.
