Unity Presbyterian Church, known as the Mother Presbyterian Church of Greene County, Pennsylvania, was organized on August 27, 1814, at the home of David Gray under the direction of Reverend John Anderson and Reverend Joseph Stevenson, appointed by the Presbytery of Washington, Pa. The elders selected and ordained were Francis Braddock, David Gray, Moses Dinsmore, and Jacob Rickey. The original place of worship was a log schoolhouse that stood at the edge of Braddock's Cemetery about 1 mile northwest of the village. The present church building was constructed in 1879 and dedicated in 1880. Jacob Ruble D.D., minister from 1894 to 1909 and remembered as a beloved old pastor, gave the address at the 100th anniversary services in August 1914. The brick house standing directly north, known as New Brick, was constructed about 1892-93 by Henry Jacobs and his wife Rebecca Henry Jacobs. Its bricks were fired in a kiln on the hillside across the brook. Intended as a hotel, it became a residence as the Old Drove Road was less traveled by stock drivers. John Barclay Orndorff, nephew-in-law of the builder, purchased the property in 1915 and lived there with his family until his death in 1953.
