Men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States are honored here with the declaration that a nation that honors its veterans is dedicated to preserving a freedom won through the sacrifice of life itself. It especially remembers the honored dead, who ventured far, fought bravely, and gave their lives to preserve freedom and liberty, and records by name many of those dead from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Women’s Army Corps, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Naval Armed Guard service.
