Around 1860, Herman Hallock brought stones from Hartford, Connecticut, for the walkways surrounding the Homestead, and a horse block like the original made it easier for women in long dresses to climb into wagons or mount horses. A photo shows Ella, Georgia and Eula Hallock with Old Nell.
