Built in 1937 in Great Neck Estates, New York, the Ben Rebhuhn House is the only home on Long Island designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Commissioned by Benjamin and Anne Rebhuhn, it was created in Wright’s Usonian mode, with a cruciform plan and a dramatic two-story living room shaping the interior. Tidewater red cypress board and batten, used inside and out with brick and red roof tile, give the house a unified material character. Often compared with Wright’s earlier Ernest Vosburgh House, it also reflects his shift from Prairie style to the later Usonian approach. It remains an important part of Wright’s legacy in the New York region.
