Kanopolis Drive-in Theatre, opened in 1952 on the northwest side of Kanopolis, Kansas, is one of the state’s few operating drive-ins and remains a classic postwar movie venue. Created by U.S. veteran Tony Blazina after he and his wife, Olga, built a local following through a mobile movie business, it stayed in continuous operation until 2006 and remained closely connected to the Blazina family for decades. After uncertainty following Olga’s and Liz Ray’s deaths in 2009, new owners repaired and modernized the property, reopening it in 2011 and converting to digital projection in 2013. New owners again reopened it for the 2025 season, sustaining its role as a seasonal community gathering place.
