Fort Buhlow was a Confederate Civil War earthwork fort built in 1864 on a hill overlooking the Red River, with a ditch around it and a strategic position for military protection of the river below. At the time of its completion, the site had a clear view of the Red River. A sister fort, Fort Randolph, was built at the same time six hundred yards downstream. The two forts are connected with the Union-led Red River Campaign.
