Sang Run State Park
Nature
Sang Run State Park in Garrett County, Maryland, combines outdoor recreation with the history of the old community of Sang Run. Centered on the Youghiogheny River, the 264-acre park preserves Friends Delight, an early 1800s homestead, and the historic Friends Store, which long served as a center of local life and as the post office until the 1970s. These surviving buildings give the park a stronger historical character than most riverside recreation areas. Today it offers picnicking, a hiking trail, and river access for Class V whitewater rafting, joining early settlement history with a demanding stretch of whitewater.
