Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids Township, Michigan, developed from a botanical garden effort in the early 1980s into a major Midwestern cultural destination after opening in 1995. Built on land donated by Meijer, Inc. and supported by Frederik and Lena Meijer, it combines botanical displays, indoor galleries, and extensive outdoor sculpture grounds. Its features include the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory, specialized indoor and outdoor gardens, a children’s garden, a recreated Michigan farm, an amphitheater, and a large sculpture collection by internationally known artists. Continued expansion, strong attendance, and national honors have made it one of the country’s leading sculpture parks.
