Masonic Lodge No. 3
History
2
Erected in 1824 with funds from a public lottery, this is the oldest building in Monroe County. Its lower floor served as a Baptist church and a courtroom where William B. Travis, then a resident of Claiborne, practiced law. General LaFayette visited on April 6, 1825. The building was moved to its present location in 1884 and preserved by the Perdue Hill’s Womans Club.
