Enoch Poor, an honorable brigadier general of the State of New Hampshire, died on September 8, 1780, at the age of 44. Washington, Lafayette, and a portion of the American army attended his burial. In 1824, Lafayette revisited the grave and, much affected as he turned away, exclaimed, “Ah, that was one of my Generals.”
