The people of Monongahela erected and dedicated a memorial in honor of their boys who answered the country’s call in the World War, especially in memory of those who gave their lives for what it calls a great and righteous cause, saying they won immortal glory and nobly served their nation in serving mankind. It records by name those from Monongahela who died, presents an honor roll of Monongahela’s Great War veterans, and also inscribes the names of those who went from the District of Axelton and from Carroll Township and served their country in the World War.
