An early Native American resident once lived in this area, though how long ago is unknown. The bones were turned up by a plow in a sandy field on the northwest 90 acres, Section 94, Block 4x, Terry County, owned by Winfred and Ellen Tucker. The Texas Tech Archaeology Department concluded that the remains were quite old and were definitely Native American because enamel had been worn off the teeth by eating food ground on sandstone grinders. The remains were donated to Meadow Museum in 1976.
