Built in 1917 in Shorewood near Milwaukee, the Elizabeth Murphy House is a Frank Lloyd Wright American System-Built Home, Model A203, created as part of his effort to offer standardized, well-designed housing. Elizabeth Murphy developed it speculatively, and despite construction delays, cost overruns, and a 1919 lawsuit over unpaid bills and incomplete work, the finished house closely followed Wright’s plans, though reversed to fit the lot. A one-story cottage with much of its interior still intact, it remains a clear example of the model. Its Wright authorship later faded from notice but was re-established through research and confirmed in 2015.
