Transportation
Cedar Island Light is a 40-foot granite lighthouse in the Italianate style at Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton, New York, overlooking Gardiners Bay. Also known as Cedar Point Lighthouse, it occupies a prominent coastal position where the bay meets the shore. Its service ended in 1934, when an automatic light on a steel skeleton structure at the breakwater took over its navigational role. The original tower endures as a historic landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It also appears in souvenir postcards preserved by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, reflecting its place in the visual record of American lighthouses.
