This large imposing building was built in 1897 as the Jno. F. McGinty Brewery, known for lager beer, XXX porter brown stout, and wholesale liquors. It initially had a capacity of 15,000 barrels per year, which increased to 40,000 barrels per year by 1903. It was succeeded by the Liberty Brewing Co. from 1909 to 1920, the Lehigh Valley Brewing Co. from 1933 to 1934, and finally the Rahn Brewing Co. during its last year of operation in 1934 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
