At Petit Jean State Park, nature and history are closely connected in several notable places. Rock House Cave is a sandstone bluff shelter with ancient Native American pictographs inside. The Pioneer Cabin is a log cabin constructed by John Walker in 1845. The historic section of Mather Lodge was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934, with a new addition added in 2012, and the lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Davies Bridge, a Civilian Conservation Corps structure completed in 1934, was originally named Cedar Creek Bridge and was dedicated as Davies Bridge in 1999; it is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
