Tuckahoe Bay is a protected Carolina bay in the Carolina Forest area west of Myrtle Beach, notable for its oval, swamp-like form and shorter vegetation caused by Johnston loam soils. Its name comes from a Native American word associated with edible plants, though the specific local origin is uncertain. The bay appeared on an 1845 plat by Cornelius B. Sarvis and on topographic maps by at least 1938, while an early 1930s aerial map recorded it in an undisturbed state. Though now surrounded by suburban development and crossed by a power line, it has largely remained untouched and stands as a preserved example of a Carolina bay.
