The Kazoo Museum in Beaufort, South Carolina, connects the history of the kazoo with its modern manufacture by operating inside the Kazoobie Kazoos Factory. Begun in Seattle in 2007 by kazoo enthusiast Boaz Frankel, the collection moved to Portland before finding a permanent home in Beaufort in 2010. Its exhibits follow the instrument from its invention in the 1840s to the present and include about 200 items such as early manufactured kazoos, recordings, patents, sheet music, records, memorabilia, and production equipment. The site combines a niche music museum with a working factory tour, linking quirky musical history to ongoing industrial production.
