Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is an 11-acre urban sculpture park operated by the Walker Art Center with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, and one of the largest of its kind in the United States. Opened in 1988 and expanded after Parade Stadium was demolished, it grew from land long used for military drills, floral gardens, and recreation. A major 2016–2017 reconstruction improved water management and visitor facilities before the garden reopened as part of a larger Walker campus. Its most famous work, Spoonbridge and Cherry, became an emblem of Minneapolis, while the Irene Hixon Whitney Bridge links the garden to Loring Park across Hennepin Avenue and Interstate 94.
