Hollis Garden is a public botanical garden in downtown Lakeland, Florida, along Lake Mirror and within the city’s larger lakeside civic landscape. Although completed in 2000, it grew from 1920s City Beautiful plans for the Lake Mirror promenade by Charles Wellford Leavitt that were reduced after Florida’s 1926 economic crash. The garden was ultimately realized through a gift from the Hollis family, including major funding and a perpetual care fund. Its 16 themed rooms combine formal design, water features, world plant collections, pollinator habitat, and historically linked trees, and it now serves as both a botanical attraction and a community gathering place.
