Pushaw Lake is a shallow, warmwater glacial lake in central Maine near Bangor, with shoreline in Orono, Old Town, Hudson, and Glenburn. Much of its edge is lined with roads and private homes, though the southeastern end meets the less developed Caribou Bog complex. Its early history is uncertain, but it is generally believed to have formed through glacial melting, with local belief that flooding or other human-caused changes may have enlarged it. A small dam built in 1920 helped stabilize water levels. Close to Bangor and easily reached, the lake is a heavily used recreation area known for boating, winter access, and productive fishing, especially for bass and northern pike.
