Rose Pauson House was a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Phoenix, Arizona, designed in 1939 and built from 1940 to 1942 on a hillock in Alta Vista Park Estates, a subdivision whose sparse development after the Great Depression made the house especially prominent. In 1943, a fallen ember from the fireplace ignited a hand-woven curtain and destroyed the house, leaving ruins that became a local landmark known as Shiprock. When plans to extend 32nd Street through the property threatened those remains, public protest followed and federal project funds were lost. In 1979, the last surviving ruin, the rear chimney mass, was moved and preserved at the subdivision entrance.
