Pennsylvania Half-Timbering

3
Pennsylvania also has notable examples of half-timbered structures. There are two styles of Pennsylvania half-timbering. The country style has plastering between the exposed, criss-crossing studs, and this style was often used on the crossroads tavern-store. In the town style, the spaces between the studs were filled with brick nogging. The Gates House in colonial York, Pennsylvania, is a prime example of the town style.
