Tabernacle Cemetery stands on the site of the old Tabernacle Methodist Church, and also on the site of Tabernacle Academy. Buried there are Confederate Generals Martin Witherspoon Gary and Nathan George Evans, along with other Confederate officers, soldiers, and veterans. Tabernacle Academy was organized in 1820 by Stephen Olin, and from it developed Mount Ariel and Cokesbury Conference School.
