At quilting parties, marriage prospects were tested after a quilt was finished when four unmarried girls each held a corner so the quilt sagged in the middle, a cat was placed into it, and after a little jolting ran to a corner and jumped out; the girl holding that corner was believed likely to be married within the year. During quilting, if the thread knotted, women used to say "Des gebt blendi buus oonich da deck," meaning there would be many a kiss under that quilt.
