Main Street in Cedartown has long been the center of the area's parades, festivals, and special events, serving as the town's front porch for annual fall festivals each October, Shriner's Parades, Homecoming Parades, political rallies, concerts, and barbecues. Around 1900, the corner of Main Street and Stubbs Street hosted a spring festival and fire company tournament where volunteer fire departments from across the region gathered to display equipment and firefighting techniques. For many years, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company was a major employer in Cedartown, and its annual Goodyear Field Day Parade began in the 1920s; in a late 1940s parade, ROTC members and Boy Scouts led with flags of the U.S. and Goodyear. South Main Street also appeared in 1950s scenes of the Northwest Georgia Fair.
