In 1910, Ringling Bros. Circus performers and animals paraded around town and drew a huge crowd. The intersection of Madison and Washington Avenues, looking northwest, had brick streets and overhead trolley power lines. The New York Store later became the Allen County Historical Society, and the buildings in the middle of the block were destroyed by a fire on August 10, 1990.
