Addison’s Village Green, a popular site for concerts and other events, has had three different gazebos at this location. The first, dedicated in 1965, was built in Rome, Italy, in 1873 and brought to Addison by Joseph Incandella. It was a 12-sided wrought iron structure in Victorian style, painted white, and it was torn down in 1972 after falling into disrepair. The Addison Beautification Gazebo Committee was then formed to coordinate the design and funding of a new gazebo as a demonstration of community pride. Dedicated in November 1974, the second gazebo was twice the size of the original. It was octagonal, 22 feet in diameter, and constructed of concrete, brick, cedar, wrought iron, and steel. It had a shingle roof topped by a cupola that reached 30 feet into the air. This gazebo was dedicated to Joseph V. Bodzioch, a village trustee who spearheaded the project and died while in office in 1977. The second gazebo was demolished in 1999 to allow construction of the new Village Hall. A third gazebo, slightly smaller and more contemporary in design, was then built so visitors could continue to enjoy events on the Village Green.
