This six-foot, triangular pointed, kedge-style anchor, with a 41 inch base, was used on the steamboat “City of Syracuse” as it plied the waters of Skaneateles Lake from 1901 to 1917. After the 112-foot boat was salvaged and scuttled at the end of the village pier, the anchor was taken to the head of the lake, where it rested for many years near the Glen Haven Hotel. In 1983, during the Sesquicentennial, Don Stinson, Village Historian, presented the anchor to the Village of Skaneateles, but it remained in storage until 2010.
