On the site of the Old Myrick Plantation, George Myrick established this cemetery after arriving in Autauga County in 1826 and building his home just north of here. The original chapel dated to the 1870s and served as both a local school and a Methodist church. The current Myrick Chapel was constructed in 1912 with materials supplied by Edward David Myrick from his mill and was built by his son-in-law, Sion Oates. The oldest burial is Lemuel Myrick in 1879. George and Nancy Myrick are also buried here; they were great-grandparents of Lady Bird Johnson, wife of the 36th U.S. President.
