Mount Madonna is a prominent peak near the southern end of California’s Santa Cruz Mountains in southwestern Santa Clara County, long recognized as a familiar landmark visible across the southern Santa Clara Valley and near Watsonville. Much of its present identity comes from Mount Madonna County Park, a 4,605-acre park spanning both sides of the range, with slopes facing the Santa Clara Valley and Monterey Bay. In the late 19th century, cattle baron Henry Miller built a summer home near the summit, connecting the mountain to an era of large landholdings and ranching. Today, the area is known chiefly as a regional outdoor retreat with trails, camping, and other recreational facilities.
