This water wheel measured 13 feet in diameter and 4 feet in width, operated with a head of 10 to 12 feet, had a capacity of 12 horsepower, and could reach speeds of 10 revolutions per minute. It was sold by the Fitz Water Wheel Company of Hanover, Pennsylvania, a company that had been building water wheels since 1840. Water reached the wheel through a 3-foot-diameter concrete duct that ran underground to the mill stream at Gallagher Road.
