The Eagle Station meteorite, found near Eagle Station in Kentucky in 1880, is a pallasite that became the type specimen for the Eagle Station group. As the reference example for that classification, it gave its name to an entire group of related pallasites in meteoritics. George F. Kunz first described it in 1887. Its importance rests not on a documented fall, but on its scientific role in defining and anchoring a recognized meteorite group.
