At the former site of the Shawnee Indian Village of Piqua and in its immediate vicinity, the Shawnees and their British allies were defeated by General George Rogers Clark and his army of Kentucky frontiersmen, a battle that greatly advanced the cause of the American Revolution on the Western Front.
