Constructed for T.A. Murray in 1910, this structure replaced the last of the wooden buildings on this block of Wallace Street. Over the years it housed many businesses, beginning with a Golden Rule Store and later a furniture and hardware business, with later occupants including Morris-Mosely Company, People's Dry Goods, Kuykendall's Ladies Store, and Conner Insurance. The storefront on the left was a jewelry store for many years under various owners, most memorably Kimbrough's and Florese's. In 1934, sparks from a fire that destroyed the Smithwick hotel on the south side of the block ignited a fire that severely damaged the building's interior. Over time, windows were enclosed and metal sheathing was applied, but in 2001 Dick Miller bought the building, removed the façade, reopened the windows, and revealed the original stonework.
