South Argyle United Presbyterian Church's first pastor was Rev. Thomas Beveredge. Its first elders were John McNeil, John McKnight, and William Reid. Its first trustees were Casper Bain, William Robertson, Robert Robertson, David McKnight, John Reid, and John Harsha. The building stands on one hundred sixty acres deeded to those trustees from the original five hundred acres granted for a Glebe in the patent of forty-seven thousand four hundred fifty acres from King George the Third.
